JM Interpret YAL book cvr.jpg

Building on our work with Literary / Critical Theory in class 8, for class 9, read the assigned chapter from Moore’s Interpreting Young Adult Literature: Literary Theory in the Secondary Classroom below with your group members. The intent is to give you a contextualized example of how literary theory might be used to interpret YAL.

After reading, your pair or trio will be responsible for posting the following to your wiki page below: a) briefly summarize the YAL book or short story that serves as the anchor text for the chapter (you can use outside resource for help with this as needed), b) summarize your chapter briefly for the class, and c) generate at least 3-5 takeaways from the chapter in terms of thinking about how you (and others:) might integrate literary theory into the teaching of YAL based on how you experienced your reading of the chapter.

[4 pairs & 1 group of 3 or 3 groups of 3 and 1 pair (leaving one chapter out) -- we'll decide in class together.]
